The Best Value Properties in Sarasota, FL

The Properties
Looking at the top few properties, it's a great town for condos. With lots of beach and vacation properties, developers have wanted to take advantage and put in as many units as possible for the best return on their investment. This keeps inventory relatively high and allows for some great deals if you know where to look. Beware, however when you see a really good price. Sometimes condos are listed for a sale of only a portion of the condo. So if you see a ridiculously low price you may be only getting 1/16th of the rights to use the property.
The top property benefits from a huge lot size and the amenities contained within its large complex. The best value 2-bedroom property is 3rd overall and has nearly 1000 square feet at a reasonable price. It looks to be in excellent condition. There are tons of condos and mobile homes for a good prices, but, generally speaking, the single family homes are of lesser value in Sarasota.
Are Lots of People Moving to Florida?
Yes, many people are making there way to Florida, but perhaps not as many as you would think. This site gives a detailed look at where people are headed. The handy map they have makes the info easy to digest. Yes, they're going to Florida, but Idaho, Arizona, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina are all seeing more people coming in. Florida has the 6th most inbound movers. These are 2020 numbers so it's likely to shuffle a bit for this year.
But where are people leaving? In the largest numbers they're leaving Illinois, New York, and New Jersey.
Why Florida?
According to this artice, people head to Florida not only for the obvious reason of nice weather, but also because Florida has no state income tax, and when compared with a state like New York, lower property taxes and a lower cost of living.
A Surprising Clue About a Property's Value
Here's a random tidbit we came across. The suffix of a property's address can often be a clue about its value. A few years back, the New York Times studied several years of home sales data and determined that addresses with suffixes of "way" and "place" tend to be more valuable than comparable places on a "street" or an "avenue". This is apparenty because the suffix can correlate to the age of the structures on the property and also to the type of structures. Interesting!
